Mallorca in June (2024): Weather, Events, and Best Things to Do

Thinking of booking a holiday in Mallorca in June? Dive into this insider’s guide for a no-nonsense look at everything from the weather and best beaches to the hottest events and must-do activities. As a local resident, I’m here to give you the real deal — no hype, just practical tips and honest recommendations. Read on to make the most of Mallorca in June.

What’s the weather like in Mallorca in June?

In June, you can expect average daily highs of around 29 °C (83 °F) and daily lows of 16°C (61°F). Averaging just 2 days of rain, June has perfect beach weather.

Unlike in July and August, when it can be difficult to sleep because of the heat and humidity, Mallorca in June still has notable temperature differences between day and night.

What’s more, with the longest days of the year falling in June, you can make the most of your time outside in the sun.

Can you swim and sunbathe in Mallorca in June?

Yes and yes! June has amazing beach weather! With average water temperatures of 21°C (70°F), the water is cool and refreshing.

The beaches are fully operational, so you’ll find lifeguards on duty, sun loungers and parasols for rent, beach bars open, and everything ready for you to have a great time.

What should I pack for Mallorca in June?

In June, you can get away with packing mainly summer clothes but take a few layers in case you feel chilly in the evening. Think about taking:

  • Swimsuit
  • T-shirts
  • Shorts
  • Skirts
  • Sandals/flip-flops
  • Trainers or comfortable shoes for exploring
  • Trousers
  • Light jacket/cardigans for the evening
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun cream

Is Mallorca crowded in June?

Yes, June marks the beginning of the high season in Mallorca, so expect increasing crowds. Make dinner reservations and book accommodation and car rentals well in advance to ensure a smooth trip.

That said, as most kids are still in school, June is the quietest summer month you can visit the island. If you want the best beach holiday in Mallorca, now’s the time to come!

Things to do in Mallorca in June

¡Vamos a la playa!

Palma Nova Beach
Palma Nova Beach

Famous for its crystal clear waters and fine white sand, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful beaches and dreamy coves. With 550 km of coastline, Mallorca has over 200 beaches and coves, and all of them are gorgeous. While this list is by no means exhaustive, here are a few 7 suggestions to inspire you:

  • Playa de Alcúdia (North) – This family-friendly beach has all the facilities you need for a fantastic day out at the beach. Popular with locals and tourists alike, this beach does get busy, but because it’s so long (nearly 3.5km), it rarely feels overcrowded!
  • Playa de Formentor (North) – Considered one of Mallorca’s top 20 beaches, Playa de Formentor is a beautiful setting for a lazy day reading a book under the shade of the pine trees.
  • Playa de Muro (North) – A continuation of Playa de Alcúdia, this long and wide sandy beach is one of the island’s cleanest and most eco-friendly.
  • Cala Agulla (North-east) – Surrounded by pine trees and mountains, Cala Agulla is a gorgeous place to while away a sunny day.
  • Es Trenc (South-east) –  Located in a nature reserve, Es Trenc is the largest unspoilt beach on the island. With calm and shallow waters, it’s perfect for visiting with small children.
  • Palma Nova (South-west) – This popular family resort is by no means secluded or off the beaten track, but honestly, it’s a beautiful beach with plenty of restaurants, bars, and water sports to have a great day out.
  • Cala Deià (West) – If you’re visiting the stunning mountain village of Deià, this small and rocky cove is the place to cool off. It’s covered in pebbles and rocks, so it’s not the easiest place to access the sea, but the crystal-clear water is perfect for snorkelling!

A word of warning about Mallorca beaches

Night owls beware! If you don’t arrive by 8 or 9 am, you could find it difficult to find a parking (or even a towel) space at a lot of the beaches, especially the smaller beaches and “hidden” coves. If you’re a late riser like me, I suggest going to beaches within walking distance in summer to avoid this problem altogether.

Another tip is to go to the larger and more popular beaches. It seems counter-intuitive, but there’s often more infrastructure to absorb everyone on the big, well-known beaches in tourist resorts.

Make a splash

June in Mallorca is swimming season, so make the most of it and dive into the island’s huge selection of water sports and activities. Popular activities include:

Water parks

If you’re here with kids, at some point they’ll be begging you to go to the water park. There are several in Mallorca including:

  • Hidropark Alcúdia (North) – This park offers slides, wave pools, a mini-golf course, and more. With a dedicated kids’ area and shallow pools, Hidropark is particularly well-suited for families with young children.
  • Aqualand El Arenal (South) – One of the largest water parks on the island, located in the popular resort of El Arenal. Aqualand features a mix of high-speed water slides, kids’ splash pools & calm raft rides.
  • Western Water Park (South-west) – Home to “The Beast” – a 30-meter vertical drop slide and the eleventh-highest slide in the world (LOL), Magaluf’s Wild West-themed water park will please even the craziest adrenaline seekers. For small children and the not-so-brave, don’t worry. There are plenty of gentler rides too.

Money-saving tip: Many families comment that while the tickets aren’t so expensive, the food is. Take your own snacks to avoid shelling out on overpriced fast food.

Get ready to party!

Whether you prefer to chill out at a beach bar, get tipsy at a bottomless brunch, or live it up at a tardeo or boat party, Mallorca in summer can feel (for better or worse) like a non-stop fiesta. While there are parties across the island, a lot of them centre around the lively resorts.

In Magaluf, you can find fun and raucous events like Pirates Reloaded – an event that’s a show,  club night, and acrobatics display all in one! Or get your dabbers out and have a fun-filled night at an adult bingo rave! Check out this Magaluf events calendar for full moon, foam, pool parties, and more!

Pirates Adventure (The kids version of Pirates Reloaded).

And don’t forget Arenal. The German-speaking equivalent of Magaluf, Arenal is home to daily parties at Bierkönig, its several beach bars, and its notorious beer hall, Megapark

Megapark has to be experienced to be fully understood, but it’s essentially a massive beer hall where huge crowds come to drink from beer bongs and listen to German Z-listers perform Partyschlager music (a type of cheesy German folk EDM). It’s like a really rowdy and debauched Oktoberfest happening all night and day between April and October.

Don’t knock it until you try it!

Shopping at a night market

The summer heat might put you off shopping during the day, but you can still scratch your shopping itch at one of Mallorca’s night markets. Hosted across the island in the summer months, you can check out stalls offering everything including crafts, jewellery, food, drinks, leather goods, textiles… See dates, times and locations here.  Not only is it a lot cooler to go shopping in the evenings, there’s a super chilled vibe as you browse the stalls outside, often to the accompaniment of live music!

What’s on in Mallorca in June? Key dates and special events

Wine festivals, music, obscure food fairs… June is jam-packed with events. Here are some of my top picks:

Raïm Wine Fest in Porreres, 1st of June

Fancy trying some delicious Mallorcan wines for just 2 euros per glass? Then head over to the Raïm Wine Fest! With food trucks, live music, and plenty of wine, this is one not to miss if you’re a wine and music lover. In true Spanish style, there are even activities like face painting and storytelling to keep the children entertained while the adults swill wine!

Held annually since 2022, this fifth edition of the festival takes place in the inland town of Porreres and will welcome 9 Mallorcan wineries including Oloron, Mezquida Mora, Can Feliu, Vino de la Isla, Jaime de Puntiró, Son Juliana, Vidal Serra, Finca Ses Talaioles and Blanca Terra.

My favourites are Oloron, Jaime de Puntiró, and Blanca Terra, but try their wines out for yourself and see which you like most!

Where? Convento de Sant Felip Neri de Porreres

When? 18:00 – 02:00

Clubland Mallorca, 3rd and 17th June

Featuring artists like Darren Styles, Ultrabeat, Flip n’ Fill, MC Keyes, Cascada, and MC Finchy, Magaluf’s Clubland nights are the place to be for dance music lovers! The events are expected to fill up quickly, so get your tickets for the event on Monday 3rd, and Monday 17th in advance.

Fira nocturna de la patata (The Evening Potato Fair), 7th – 8th June

Ever tasted potato ice cream? How about potato and Oreo cheesecake? If not, then head over to Sa Pobla’s highly-anticipated evening potato fair. During 2 days of potato-filled fun, you can try a wide variety of both traditional and unusual dishes that pay tribute to the humble potato – an important vegetable for both Sa Pobla’s economy and identity.

See the full programme here to find out which bands are playing and the crazy potato dishes on offer. Potato and apricot croquettes, potato and almond cake, potato pizza… My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Origin Fest, June 9th

Electronic music fans will love Origin Fest – an electronic music festival spread over 4 dates this summer. Discover the lineup and buy tickets on Origin Fest’s official website

Mallorca Live Festival, 13th-15th June

More music! Over three days and five stages, Mallorca Live Festival welcomes an eclectic lineup featuring rock, pop, electronic music, rap, folklore and more. As one of Mallorca’s most varied summer festivals, this is a great one to go to with friends who have differing musical tastes. See who’s playing and buy tickets on the official website.

Fira de l’albercoc (The Apricot Fair), 15th June

Porreres is busy this June! Not content with just hosting the Raïm Wine Fest, they’re also hosting their famous apricot fair. Porreres grows 70% of the island’s apricots, making them the town’s most exported product and famous in Mallorca and beyond. In fact, their reputation is so good that other producers have tried to ride the wave of their success by falsely labelling their products as Porreres apricots. What a scandal!

Held every year in June, the fair is an opportunity to try all varieties of Mallorcan apricots, as well as a wide range of apricot products. Burgers with apricot jam, roast lamb with dried apricots, apricot ensaïmades, apricot ice creams, and apricot mojitos were just some of the offerings in previous years.

Wine and Opera Nights, 15th, 16th and 29th June

Whether you’re an opera aficionado or a curious newbie, Mallorca’s Wine and Opera nights could be just the event for you. Held at some of the island’s best wineries, this is the chance to dip your toes into the world of opera and taste some of Mallorca’s best wines!

Where and when?

Festes de Sant Joan, 23rd – 24th June

To find out the full scoop on this festivity including its interesting origins, you must read my blog post all about Sant Joan, but for now, here are the basics:

  • The day of Sant Joan (Saint John) is celebrated every 24th of June in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Andorra, Valencia, and some Catalan-speaking parts of France.
  • Although Saint John’s Day is the 24th, the celebrations start the evening before on the 23rd.
  • On the evening of the 23rd of June, family and friends get together to light fireworks, build bonfires, eat, drink, and be merry.
  • All-night parties traditionally take place on the beach, where revellers take a purifying midnight dip in the sea and make a wish for the coming year.

Coinciding with midsummer, the atmosphere is really exciting as everyone welcomes the beginning of summer with friends, music, fire, water, and plenty of cava! It always reminds me of New Year’s Eve but in the middle of the year.

Most of the Sant Joan action in Mallorca centres around Palma. There you’ll find correfoc fire runs – basically people dressed up as devils chasing you with firecrackers whizzing around their heads! – as well as live music and dancing. You’ll also find events and activities in other towns around the island including traditional dancing and parades.

Deià’s International Music Festival, 26th June

Last but not least, the end of June kicks off one of the most famous music events on the island – Deià’s International Music Festival. Taking place every summer since 1978, the festival is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy live classical music performances against the gorgeous backdrop of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. Check out the programme for the 46th edition of the festival and book your tickets here.

Is June a good time to visit Mallorca?

Pros

  • Beach weather – With an average of just 2 days of rain and daily highs of 29℃,  it’s the perfect time to hit the beach. Plus, the beaches are still perfectly clean and the sea water is cool and refreshing!
  • Not too hot at night – June still has notable temperature differences between day and night, and the summer humidity hasn’t kicked in yet. Hooray!
  • Long days – The longest days of the year fall in June. Make the most of them to enjoy the island.
  • Everything’s open – All hotels, restaurants, beach services, water sports, attractions and shows will be in full swing.
  • It’s lively  – June is packed with parties and music events for all tastes!

Cons

  • It’s too hot for some outdoor activities – Now is not the time to go on challenging hikes or bicycle rides. Enjoy the water sports instead if you want to stay active.
  • Rising prices – Rental cars, hotels and attractions are priced for high season in June, so don’t visit in June if your priority is saving money.
  • It’s crowded  – Mallorca gets crowded in high season, so make reservations in advance for everything from dinner to hotels and car rentals.
  • Parking is a nightmare – As the number of visitors increases, so does the number of rental cars on the roads. This can make parking a nightmare unless you arrive early. Public transport can be a better option in some cases, but remember that it can be crowded, especially on buses to and from Palma or on popular routes like Palma to Sóller.

Is Mallorca worth visiting in June?

Yes! June is probably the best month for a beach holiday in Mallorca as you’ll have almost guaranteed beach weather every day without the heat being overbearing at night. What’s more, the summer flowers are in full bloom and the island is still gorgeously green.

Mallorca is crowded and expensive in June, but if you’re looking for a beach holiday, this is the calmest and cheapest summer month before schools close and the island gets even busier.
