Mallorca in February (2025): Weather, Events, and Best Things to Do

Ever thought about visiting Mallorca in low season? Just moved to the island and don’t know what to expect? Then read on to find out what it’s like in Mallorca in February including the weather, events and top things to do. No hidden agenda, just the perspective of an island resident who’s found something to love here in every season. ❄️

What’s the weather like in Mallorca in February?

With average daily highs of 16℃ and lows of 4℃, February is one of Mallorca’s coldest months. Admittedly not arctic and certainly much warmer than most of Northern Europe, but the high humidity and lack of central heating and proper insulation in many buildings make it feel a lot colder. If you’re a resident, this is the perfect time to take advantage of your 75% travel discount and escape to the warmth of the Canary Islands! 😎

The sea’s chilly too, but plenty of brave souls take the plunge all year (albeit in a head-to-toe wetsuit). On a positive note, the days are getting longer now, with the sun setting about an hour later than the start of the year. 🥳

What to Wear in Mallorca in February

Although you’ll probably have mild days when you can go without a jacket, it always gets cold in the evening. You’ll definitely need a winter coat, warm shoes, gloves and a scarf to keep you warm and toasty come nightfall. And don’t forget your suncream and sunglasses for the winter sun. It’s stronger than you think!

Things to Do in Mallorca in February

Dust Off Your Hiking Boots

Cala Bóquer Hike
Cala Bóquer Hike in winter

Not only is Mallorca’s landscape its lushest in winter and early spring, but now’s your chance to see the island turn into a sea of pink and white as the island’s 7 million almond trees burst into bloom. From the gorgeous countryside around Inca and Llucmajor to the dramatic slopes of the Tramuntana mountains, Mallorca offers a wide range of hiking trails against this spectacular backdrop.

February is also a fantastic time to enjoy stunning coves without the crowds. If you’re looking for an easy and scenic hike, I’d highly recommend the trail to Cala Bóquer: a quiet cove frequented by wild goats. They’re cute but cheeky, so watch out for your snacks!

See Mallorca by Bike

With challenging mountains, rolling plains, well-paved roads and extensive cycle paths, it’s hardly surprising that Mallorca has turned into a cycling Mecca. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or recreational rider, there are cycling trails for all fitness levels and tastes. If you’d prefer to go cycling in a group, there are also plenty of guided tours to discover the Palma and its surroundings on two wheels.

Go Sightseeing Without the Crowds

One of the quietest months for tourism, February is the perfect time for unhurried sightseeing. Here are my top picks:

  • A walking tour of Palma Old Town – Check out Mallorca Free Tour to discover Mallorca’s history and culture with a local guide.
  • Explore the gorgeous mountain villages – Outside of low season, parking can be a nightmare in Valldemossa, Sóller and Deià, so take advantage of lower footfall and easier parking now!
  • Visit Les Coves del Drach –  With a year-round temperature of 17℃  – 21℃, exploring the underground world of The Drach Caves is the perfect way to escape the cold and rain.
  • Visit Palma Cathedral – Dominating the city’s skyline, no trip to Mallorca would be complete without a trip to this beauty. It’s also the Festival of Light on February 2nd – more details in the events section below.

Try your hand at acrylic painting, watercolours or pottery making and painting at The Fun Art Club in Palma Old Town. Not only is it super relaxing, it’s a great way to meet people while learning a new skill.

Unleash Your Competitive Streak at a Pub Quiz

Whether you’re a walking encyclopedia of 90s boy bands or just know way too much about cheese, La Velo Brewery’s monthly pub quiz is your chance to shine. Aside from being the perfect opportunity to unleash your trivia knowledge, you’ll also get to dig into some seriously good comfort food (with tonnes of great veggie options!), washed down with a wide array of craft beers. Check La Velo’s Instagram for more event details.

Corner Bar and Atomic Garden also host regular quiz nights, so check their socials for upcoming events.

Break Out of an Escape Room

Quest, Quest Escape Room

If you’re up for a challenge, Quest Quest’s Escape Rooms in Palma will put your problem-solving skills to the test. With cleverly designed rooms full of puzzles, hidden clues, and unexpected twists, you and your team will have 1 hour to crack codes, unravel mysteries, and (hopefully) make a daring escape!

Check out their full range of rooms here and recruit your friends for an exciting (if slightly stressful 🫠) bonding experience.

Quaff Vino at a Winery Tour

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Come rain or shine, you can drink wine. Get out of the city and head to award-winning winery Macià Batle in Santa Maria del Camí for a smashing wine tour and tasting of 5 wines (plus ample snacks) for 24 Euros.

Indulge in a Spa Day

In low season, you can find some great spa deals at hotels around the island. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this could be the perfect excuse to treat yourself and a special someone.

What’s on in Mallorca in February? Key Dates and Special Events

The Christmas decorations are finally gone, there are no public holidays and the island is as quiet as it gets. If you’re looking for an action-packed events calendar, now is not the time. That said, Mallorca does have a few festivities up its sleeve to keep you entertained.

Palma Cathedral’s Festival de la Luz – February 2nd

Happening just twice a year – once on February 2nd and again on November 11th – this is your chance to witness Palma Cathedral’s festival of light (and visit the cathedral for free!). Discover more about what makes it so special in this blog post.

Fira de la flor de l’ametler (The Almond Blossom Fair) – February 2nd

I love how everything can have its own special fair in Mallorca, and the island’s almond blossoms are no exception. Every year on the first Sunday in February, the historic country estate of Ca S’Hereu in Son Severa holds a morning fair dedicated to everything almonds.  Almond wood, almond oil, scented candles, perfumes, food… if it involves almonds, you’ll find it here. See Son Severa’s Facebook page for more info.

Chinese New Year Celebrations – February 9th

Psssssssssst! It’sssss the year of the ssssssnake. To celebrate, the Chinese Association of the Balearic Islands will be hosting a packed lineup of activities in Pere Garau – the Chinatown of Palma. Expect dancing dragons, traditional Chinese music and dancing, Kung fu demonstrations, and more. See the full programme below:

If you’re feeling peckish, indulge your tastebuds at some of Palma’s most authentic Chinese restaurants: : Restaurant Kirin, Casa Li and Shi Shan Xuan. 😋

Sa Rueta – 23rd February

While carnival is celebrated across Mallorca, you’ll find the biggest parties in Palma. Ahead of the main carnival celebrations, the festivities kick off with a morning packed with family-friendly events, including colourful parades, music, and activities organised specifically for kids and families. The line-up of completely free events from 10:30 am – 2 pm in Palma Old Town lets the little ones party before the adults cramp their style the following week.

Pros and Cons of Visiting Mallorca in February

Pros

  • It’s almond blossom season – the prettiest time for hiking!
  • This is one of the quietest times of the year – perfect for sightseeing and easy-breezy parking.
  • Hotel and rental car prices are as low as they get.

Cons

  • There aren’t as many events compared to other months, especially in 2025 as carnival falls in March.
  • Many businesses will be closed including waterparks, beach services, many shows, hotels, restaurants and bars.
  • Many bus lines have a reduced frequency or cease operating altogether.
  • If you’re holidaying here in February, you may hear a lot of construction noise in resorts as this is when most businesses do renovations.
  • It’s cold!

Is February a good time to visit Mallorca?

This really depends on what you want out of your trip. If you’re looking for lots of entertainment, a packed events calendar and lazy beach days, now is not the time to visit. On the other hand, February is one of the cheapest times to visit the island and you won’t have to contend with large crowds – making it a great choice for anyone on a budget who’s interested in hiking and sightseeing.
